There is no bulk billing for Telehealth appointments. The fee charged in most cases will be the rebate fee so no out of pocket fee for most telehealth calls.

Patients over 75 years of age, DVA Gold cardholders, and children under 16 years of age are bulk billed at the Doctor’s discretion. Patients with a pensioner or Centrelink Health Care Card holders will be charged a discounted rate.

A standard consultation time is 15 minutes.

The cost of a standard consultation at Chermside Markets Family Medical Centre is $84 and is exclusive of any materials fee charged for dressings, materials used in procedures, contraceptives, and certain vaccines. However, the Doctor will charge according to the consult provided. A list of consultation fees, including for pensioners, healthcare card holders, veterans, and children under 16 is displayed in the reception area.

A longer consultation time is 30 minutes. If you have numerous or complex medical issues or require a procedure, a longer consultation may be required. All new patients require a longer consultation.

To ensure patients are given the appropriate amount of time with doctors, we generally avoid fit-ins but will endeavour to arrange a same day appointment within our group of local clinics wherever possible.

Yes, in most circumstances you will need to see a Doctor to have a script written. Doctors have a duty of care and need to determine if you should be prescribed a medication based on various factors, or if you should continue or cease taking a medication they may have prescribed for you previously.

At Chermside Markets Family Medical Centre, we use a secure automated SMS system to communicate with patients about results. Depending on the test that has been undertaken, a consultation may be required to receive results. It is the patient’s responsibility to follow up on their test results, and we actively encourage our patients to be proactive in their healthcare and book an appointment for results before leaving the clinic.

Unless encryption is used, email is not a secure platform for communicating sensitive information such as test results. Also, to protect your privacy, you should never email personal information such as your birth date, address, Medicare card number, etc. to our clinic.

Regardless of the nature of your visit, you need to book an appointment with a doctor to ensure that you receive the correct level of care. Depending on your individual circumstance, you may also need to see a nurse either before or after your appointment with a doctor. Yes. We have designated chairs outside of the practice for those patients with any cold/flu symptoms. You will be required to take a COVID test prior to visiting the clinic - if it is positive please do not attend the clinic in person. Instead, call us for assistance.
